My New Facebook Group for Homebased Business

So we all know that Facebook is now charging us to get your business pages seen by all your fans. If you don't pay your posts only get seen by about 20 percent of your fans.

I thought I would try making a group for home based business's. The nice thing is there is no time line and there is no "promoted post" But to be effective we will have to have a lot of us on there.

Originally I was going to make it a craft group but I have so many friends that run other home based business's that go hand in hand with craft business. Some write e-books on how to be successful working from home, others have in home party plans.

I didn't want to leave anyone out as I feel we can all help each other. '

Feel free to join and promote your business! We can do it together and see if it works.

Cool Tools for Etsy Stores

Saw these tips on the Etsy forum and thought I would share them here.

This is a cool little Etsy fee calculator that will help you determine what to charge for your items. It will show you what you end up with after Etsy and Paypal fees etc. Love this!

For those that do a lot of shipping from home a couple websites have the Dymo Label machine on sale. I don't have one yet but I have read that they are great time savers. This one is on sale for $59.99 and they are normally 89.99.

Want to see who the top sellers on Etsy are? Craft Count shows the leading sellers in top categories.

Want to know if you were featured in a Etsy treasury or see who favorites your shop? Go to Craftopolis and put in your shop name.  Craft Cult also has some similar Etsy tools.

But by far the most valuable tool you should be using is Google Analytics! Etsy has made it really easy now to get this going on your Etsy shop. First make an account on Google Analytics and put in your Etsy shop address in the Google dashboard.  Copy your GA Web Property ID. Then go to your Etsy shop and go to "Shop Settings" then go to "Options" then go to "Web Analytics" Paste in your GA web property ID number. Be sure to hit SAVE. For more info go here.

Little self promotion :)

My newest zebra baby blankets! These can be purchased off my Etsy shop.

PayPal Micropayments for Craft Pattern Makers

I guess I have been living under a rock lately as I had no idea that Paypal offers micropayment pricing for people like me selling items like e-patterns or e-books that are usually $10.00 and under.

I so wish I had known sooner!

Most of my crochet patterns are $5.00 and under so this will really increase my profit margin on patterns.

You do have to have a Premier or Business account on Paypal to qualify for micropayment processing.

Then just click the link to apply here.

The pricing is just 5 percent plus .05 cents per item instead of the usual 2.9 percent plus .30 cents.

Ecologica Leaves Etsy

Well Ecologica has finally closed her shop and left Etsy.

And on her new website she finally admits she doesn't make the furniture and even shows pictures of the craftsmen that do make it.

Given this new turn of events, Etsy really needs to make a public apology to the members of their community. Why they kept covering for this Etsy shop will always be beyond me. It has to be the inability to admit a mistake. But now that the real truth has come out, Etsy needs to make that public apology and admit their mistake.

People have very long memories. But most people are very forgiving if the mistake is admitted and apologized for. Then everyone can move forward.

Always reminds me of the saying "those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it".

Etsy and CEO Chad - It really isn't that hard. Just make an Etsy blog post and apologize. You don't even have to name the store as everyone will already know.

I am off on vacation this week. Wishing everyone a great week of sales!
