Know When to Fold Em or Quit

Life tends to give us hard choices. For the last few weeks I have been contemplating what to do.

I run several at home business's. Jam Anarchy, my homemade jam company, Kay's Crochet Patterns, and my self published e-books.

I find myself just stretched too thin and something has to give.

I have come to the conclusion it will be my jam company. Mainly because the price of glass jars keeps going up this year a long with the price of sugar. My profit per jar is dwindling fast. You can only price a jar of jam so high and then no one wants to buy it. I refuse to go back to jars made in China so I have came to the conclusion to close up Jam Anarchy.

I am a bit sad as it has been so fun selling the jam. I love the comments and emails from customers that love our jam.

On the flip side I am excited as I won't be so exhausted and I can concentrate more on my crochet patterns and blankets. Lucky for me the crochet patterns have really taken off and I have so much fun designing the patterns and making the blankets.

Things evolve and change and you have to be able to change with them. I think this is going to be a good change for all involved.

You have to know when to fold em! Excuse the pun I am finally going to get to go on my first vacation in 5 years and I am going to Vegas! I am in a gambling state of mind.

  1. You have to do what you have to do. It's hard to give up something but when you're worn to the bone, well...

Maybe put together a cookbook with your jam recipes?

  2. Hi so good to hear from you! Yes I was thinking the same thing about a cookbook. We have had so many people beg us for the recipes. I am still sad about selling out the inventory. I cannot believe how much the glass jars went up since last year. I buy them wholesale but my supplier said there is nothing they can do. However I will not miss carrying the boxes of jars to shows lol. The boxes weigh about 50 lbs a piece.
